The auditorium
History, literature, music, cinema, human sciences…: each year, around a hundred events to apprehend the richness and diversity of the cultures of Judaism.
The room
Built under the main courtyard of the Hôtel de Saint-Aignan, the auditorium is an essential device in the scientific and cultural activity of the mahJ. This beautiful 191-seat room, with contemporary architecture, is equipped with cinema and video projection equipment, as well as simultaneous translation booths.
The editorial line
International conferences, meetings, concerts, readings, screenings, shows for young audiences... Each year, around a hundred events take account of the diversity of the cultures of Judaism, in areas that the permanent course can sometimes only sketch. The programs thus address history and the human sciences, literature, the visual arts, music (classical, klezmer, Judeo-Spanish, Judeo-Arabic, jazz, etc.), cinema and series, or social issues. Several appointments accompany the temporary exhibitions in a privileged way, with very diverse programs, helping to include the mahJ in Parisian cultural life.
In 2019, the auditorium welcomed 12,466 spectators for 101 sessions. The vast majority of events are held in French.
